Emergent Rarity Properties in Carabid Communities From Chinese Steppes With Different Climatic Conditions

چکیده
Species abundance distributions (SADs) are increasingly used to investigate how species community structure changes in response environmental variations. SAD models depict the relative of recorded a and express fundamental aspects structure, namely patterns commonness rarity. However, influence differences conditions on characteristics is still poorly understood. In this study we carabid beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) three grassland ecosystems (desert, typical, meadow steppes) China. These characterized by different aridity conditions, thus offering an opportunity SADs influenced (mainly vegetation cover, hence productivity). We various models, including meta-community zero sum multinomial (mZSM), lognormal (PLN) Fisher’s logseries (LS), uni- multimodal gambin models. Analyses were done at level steppe type (coarse scale) for sectors within same (fine scale). found that mZSM model provided, general, best fit both analysis scales. Model parameters scale analysis. Moreover, LS was desert SAD. If abundances rarefied smallest sample, results similar those without rarefaction, but estimates become more evident. Gambin unimodal provided with lowest ?-value observed higher values typical steppes, which strongly affected use rarefaction. Our indicate all investigated communities adequately modeled two distributions, LS, scales analyses. This indicates (1) relatively small number species, most rare, (2) meta-communities large maintain basic shape local communities. The produced exaggerated ?-values, they overfit simple Overall, ?, ?, ?-values substantially lower implies decreasing harshness (aridity) from steppes.

Commuter Cyclist’s Sensitivity to Changes in Weather: Insight from Two Cities with Different Climatic Conditions
This study examines the relationship between various weather conditions and commuter bicyclist volume in two cities (Portland, USA and Brisbane, Australia), which fall into different climatic zones. Investigating the variation in day-to-day bicycle ridership can help to understand factors influencing demand and in particular how base climatic conditions may condition bicyclist’s responsiveness ...
متن کاملModels for estimating phytoplankton population densities under different environmental conditions with emphasis on climatic factors
The aim of this study is to determine the effect of environmental conditions with emphasis on the main meteorological factors (air temperature variables, sunshine hour, and humidity), on phytoplankton communities. As important primary producers in aquatic ecosystems, phytoplankton communities could be affected by several factors. Environmental factors play the major role in occurrence and diver...

Background & Objective: Among agricultural activities, working and driving with farm tractors in different weather conditions lead to fatigue and burnout. The objective of this study was to evaluate the sleep quality of farm tractors drivers in different weather conditions. Methods: From tractors drivers in Behbahan, Eqlid, and Kavar, 90 participants (Kavar: 27; Eqlid: 33; Behbahan: 30) wer...
متن کاملThe coincidence of climatic and species rarity: high risk to small-range species from climate change.
Why do areas with high numbers of small-range species occur where they do? We found that, for butterfly and plant species in Europe, and for bird species in the Western Hemisphere, such areas coincide with regions that have rare climates, and are higher and colder areas than surrounding regions. Species with small range sizes also tend to occur in climatically diverse regions, where species are...
متن کاملEvaluation of Carabid Beetle Diversity in Different Bioenergy Cropping Systems
Changes in agricultural land use as a consequence of an increased demand of energy crops have resulted in an increase of maize cropped area in many regions of Germany. The focus on maize as main biogas substrate, has led in some cases to negative ecological and environmental impacts, such as a loss of agro biodiversity reflected in a loss of field flora and fauna biodiversity. The present paper...
